The Fellowship
The Institution's degree system. Seven degrees. Each unlocking further access to the Archive. Progress is not automatic. It is earned by attention, demonstrated understanding, and, at the higher degrees, by application in writing to the Secretary's office in Appleby-in-Westmorland.

Degree 1
Extraordinary Fellow
Sixth degree. The Register shows only a symbol. No names are recorded.
Degree 2
Corresponding Fellow
Fifth degree. Application by post only. The Institution does not publish what this degree grants access to.
Degree 3
Fellow
Fourth degree. The 1247 document in full. Application to the Secretary required. Not all applications are accepted.
Degree 4
Fellow Craft
Third degree. The Samarkand Correspondence full text, the 1247 document fourth page, and the Rawlinson two words.
Degree 5
Entered Apprentice
Second degree. Access to the Eden Valley Survey, the 1247 document third page, and the Station 7 monitoring protocol.
Degree 6
The Novitiate
First degree. The Territory and the Ancient History. Seven questions. Five must be answered correctly.
Degree 7
The Profane
The threshold. Those who have not yet declared their intent. Viewing the public archive only.
The Obligation
Entry to the First Degree requires a voluntary declaration. The declaration is irrevocable. It is recorded. The Institution does not specify what it is recorded in.
